Funny enough - we will prob get better regulation than with clarity

Would love to know the strategic moves of some of the votes. Gillebrand voting no on her own bill she spend years working on. Thom Tillis switching the vote to no last second. Imagine there was some gamemanship on future moves there
-
Any thoughts from your POV? If you are able to/willing to share

fingers crossed!

@[6529Guardian] - congrats on the new job! imagine tomorrows cloture vote will be somewhat meaningful for Kalshi
-
now im getting hopeful. fade fade fade
-
Feels like it will advance. Let’s see what happens…
-
:ugh: At least we got a vote on the record.
-
Guess I never have paid attention this close to procedural politics, but it is insane that any thing actually works in this country. Mitch McConnell rolled in for a vote after havent been seen for 3 months. The author votes against her own bill. Warren wants to ban Trump/politicians from using memecoins, so she blocks the bill that would ban it... de facto letting it remain legal. Banking lobby wanting to stop the stablecoin yield, so they kill a bill that limits it and protecting circles business model

@[punk6529] @[6529Guardian] curious how important Clarity is to our overall objectives. Critical? Or just would be nice to have but otherwise indifferent
-
Doesnt look good, but guess they just want to have people vote on the record prior to midterms. Fingers crossed we have some positive developments into them
-
The crypto lobby was effective in 2024, even if some of their candidates turned (Gallego comes to mind). Vulnerable Dems and pro-TradFi Reps will feel the heat if we get a public vote. We’ll see if it’s enough to manifest a positive result.

The WSJ op-ed was so disingenious and seemed to have quite peculiar timing

This feels about right to me. I hope Congress gets it done, but I’m not expecting it.
-
-
Blackrock, Franklin Templeton, Goldman, Fidelity, Franklin Templeton, Schwab all pushing for it
-
@[fatesensation] how you feeling? Unsure if it is just my feed, but it seems like the temperature is picking up on the D's
-
imagine the goal is to wait it out until congress flips then attack until crypto just becomes essentially impossible to be done in the US
-
frustrating that asking for regulation to limit fraud and scams has become so polarizing
-
Super frustrating for sure. Getting it passed matters here because it greases the wheels for the 6529 blockchain/token launch. 🚀

idk if we can get 60 votes in senate..

think we are in a race against time before the midterms take over

imagine that it all depends on trump family involvement in crypto?
-
@[fatesensation] whats your O/U that this passes and becomes law?
-
I’d say 60/40 that it passes. The Trump family grift hasn’t helped.
-
50/50 now due to the latest Trump/Senate GOP kerfuffle.

Kalshi agrees https://x.com/kalshi_crypto/status/2064003781751112008

from my understanding, fairshake did well in the primaries again, so any vote ahead of midterms may put extra pressure

I was at a small dnner (20 people) with Brian Armstrong this past week in Davos and he said that he does want to get something passed, and that he is meeting 1:1 with the bank CEOs to try to agree on a compromise around stablecoin yields
-
That's really encouraging. Understand the need to maintain leverage with negotiating. Watching GENIUS go through made me realize 'messiness' is all part of the process. Just hope they can get it over the finish line before midterms
-
Hey @[6529Guardian]! Any more inside baseball you can share about the CLARITY Act negotiations?
-
-
@[punk6529] @[6529Guardian] - would love to hear your thoughts on how passing Clarity would affect this ecosystem. is a set legal framework essential? vs beneficial(but not mandatory for end gols)? any details in particular that would make the bill a nonstarter?
-
my overall view is that passing Clarity (even in imperfect form) will help protect the digital asset ecosystem. What we are trying to build here is so decentralized and so "not an ICO" that conceptually even under Gensler it would be "not an offer or sale of securities". What worries me is that the next administration could be very anti crypto and even better at being anti crypto than the previous one, by going after self sovereignty of assets, so the strength of whatever ends up being in the legislation will be tested on that front, potentially with forum shopping to activist judges who also are anti crypto.
-
The judge shopping during Gensler era was pretty eye-opening. Has that always been the case or is this a more recent political strategy as polarization has increased?
-
-
-
any preference on no bill vs subpar bill? seems like coinbase prefers no bill to a bad bill..
-
Would have preferred bipartisan participation, but progress nonetheless. https://x.com/senateaggop/status/2014137947533058196
-
been interesting to see Coinbase essentially halt Clarity last week. curious - what are your thoughts that this gets over the finish line? sounds like time is really limited before everyone transitions to midterm elections
-
Think it will require threading a needle to get a “good” CLARITY Act passed. “Good” to me is one that clears the path for the much-anticipated $SEA and $6529 token drops.
